Help me with tick...

Help me with tick... Started hearing a loud ticking noise after making a few hard passes. Already ruled out pushrods and exhaust leak. The sound seems to be coming from the passenger side of the throttle body area. There is a metal piece that holds the belt in place right in that particular spot (I'm guessing it's the tensioner) that seems to be the source of the tick. I can sit there and watch it move back and forth. Do I just tighten the bolt down on it? I really need some advice by tomorrow night if at all possible. BTW, another reason why I strongly believe this is a belt problem is because my car would not start for a while... like the belt wasn't driving the alternator properly, but after waiting a few minutes it fired up. Re: Help me with tick... I can't say why your had a hard time of starting but the chirping ( ticking ) is probably the tensinoer pulley, also sometimes if the belt becomes dirty it can cause this problem. The dealer should be able to fix it under warranty, good luck.

For those who were wondering it was my belt. It was moving off the pullies. Found out today that the spring in the tensioner had gone out.
