Default Gutting the Cats. Need your input!

Is it fairly easy to gut them? Does anyone have any tips on the best way to do it? (Tools, Time Required, etc)

you could save yourself alot of trouble by simply putting pipe in place of the cats. but if you have to make it look like you have them. then you should take them off take a hammer and chisel and beat the stuff out then when you get most of it broken out clean them out good. now you can if you want take a piece of straight pipe and put it through the cat and weld it to both ends. or of course go ahead and put them back on without the pipe through the center.

So either have LS1Edit remove the rear o2 sensors or if you have o2 simms.
You're in Texas and if you have a 96' or newer car with OBD2 they just plug their computer in and check for codes. I just passed the other day. So don't worry about it, "YOU CAN DO IT!!!"

Peace,
Craig.

I used and air hammer with a chisle bit on the second one....the first one I did I just used a piece of solid steel bar as a chissle and hit it with a big hammer.

FYI....get a face mask....I started to do it without and started caughing (then put the mask on). Later I found out there is asbestous inside....good thing I only went for like 30 seconds and said "this sucks...too much dust"

I did mine Wednesday night. I did mine at an auto repair shop after hours with every tool imaginable and I'd never do it again. I broke 4 of the 6 exhaust manifold studs and it took 2 hours to replace them. It was about a six hour job total.

Oh BTW, that includes the trip to the chevy dealer to get 6 studs just in case.
