I am installing the 2001 intake without the egr. I was thinking about getting some 2001 exhaust manifolds as well if they dont have the egr provision for a cleaner install.

No, the 2001+ do not have EGR. if your installing the 01+ intake, I would just buy some block off plates for the headers. it would probably be a waste of your money and time to get the 01+ exhaust manifolds. If you really want to do headers, get some full-lenghts.

Yeah
Headers would make the most power. Im just looking for something more smog legal. I have the mufflex off road pipes and can switch back and forth with the cats. Also Id like to try porting the manifolds. Yall are probably right that it aint worth the hassle.

In this day i'm thinking about the EGR , did i need to delete it or not.

You wont see much gain getting rid of it. However, removing it will take 9 pounds off the front of the car and make the engine area less cluttered. If you have access to ls1edit you will be able to delete the egr codes permantly.
Hope this helps. Good luck <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
