Indexing the plugs...

Indexing the plugs... I know what indexing is, but which way should the gap face in the LS1?
Towards the intake?
Towards the exhaust?
In between the valves?
Towards the piston?

I know indexing doesn't help a whole lot, but I'm changing the plugs anyway, and it sure can't hurt...
