Default Best flowing 3" catback?

Im already tired of straight pipes so I am going back to a stock style exhaust with Hooker LTs and Off road pipe. What's a good sounding catback that flows really well as well?

(Helps to be cheap and light too) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The Loudmouth is the best flowing. 2200+ cfm.
#2 is Magnaflow at about 1100 cfm.
The rest are in between Flowmaster (350 cfm) and Magnaflow. Borla flows around 900 cfm. I forgot what Hooker flows. It is in the Borla neighborhood.

What about the Loudmouth with say a Flowmaster muffler? Would the Flowmaster muffler restrict alot of flow?

The pipes are all about the same. It is the muffler itself that is either free flowing or not.
So, yes the Flowmaster muffler would plug up a Loudmouth.

IMO, if you dont care about how the tips look, then pick the cheapest one, they all sound about the same(like ****,u cant make a LS1 sound good), I had the Corsa system on my car, sounded just like my friend who had a flowmaster welded up under his, which sounded just like my other friends B&B, which sounded just like my other friend who has a loudmouth, only quieter. Also, I have seen almost all the systems on the dyno, and there is not 3hp difference between the best and worst.

I have to agree with a few of the guys above...

I myself went with the Dynomouth, which flows the same as the Loudmouth.

GMMG makes an awesome sounding cat-back, that looks good, and flows good.

I had the SLP 2OTL on my 96 (I know, LT1), and it sounded awesome before and after I added the headers and ORP. I am not sure about the flow, but it was light and sounded great!

I too am tired of straight pipes...they sound sweet (see sig), but the drone after 2 years is getting to me.
I am gonna do ORY with stock muffler and dual cutouts. That should work.

If you want a sweet sounding exhaust just weld a baffled muffler from sweet thunder(?) in the I pipe. It's just like a GMMG only a little louder because not so many baffles. That and a HUGE cam should make the car sound unbelievable.
The baffled mufflers are around $60ish.

I have a bullit 3" muffler with 3" off the y-pipe headed out the driverside. Cost: $75.00 TOTAL.

Sounds awesome and performs well. Dont have any flow #'s but I'm sure its on up there with the SLP LM since its the same damn thing.

Then the pipe is pinched to further reduce it's size to make the 'chambers'. That would be a real bottleneck in a 2.75" or 3" I-pipe.

which plate was in the borla when it was flowed? i find it kinda hard to believe that if it had the wide open plate in there that the loudmouth would still outflow it by more than twice as much.

You have a point, unless you have a cam, most LS1s sound very much alike. Also you point out that most of the aftermarket systems make about the same power, hit the nail on the head again...
Just because the Flowmaster's flow numbers suck, the muffler still only makes just a couple horse less than the best of the best mufflers or even a cutout. What it comes down to is get the sound you like and can afford.
Dave

Btw: Don't worry about folks who make comments when they haven't even read your post... It's obvious that you do have an LS1 from what you wrote.

Magnaflow. I have one on my 2002 Z28 it is the best mod ive done so far. Its also fully polished. I actually have one in the for sael section. Brand new in the box shipped for $300. If your interested, let me know. I also have some movies clips of my car so you can hear the exhaust. Thanx!

For the price, you cant beat the Magnaflow. The only thing that Corsa, and B&B have is the snazzy looking tips, I had the Corsa on my car, and have recently taken it off and sold it and replaced it with a 3" Sweet thunder Muffler in the I Pipe, and I swear, it sounds almost identical to the Corsa If I were to run LTs without cats, then the Loudmouth/Dynomouth/Sweet Thunder setup would be out of the question for me I have found those to be a little loud for my taste.Others may have different opinions. I can see how you can argue quality, fitment, and price, and to a lesser extent, sound, but to argue power output between the various catbacks is a beaten topic.
]I think it was CAMAROLS1 that called me a troll, well, you can blow me, kiss my ***, get bent, suck my dick, ect.Because if you think that catback selection is actually going to make a difference on how your car runs, then you need to spend a little more time at the track, and less time stressing a point just because this is your first sports car.

Nobody has mentioned Dynomax. The straight through Ultra Flo mufflers flow very well, they're inexpensive - I pieced together my cat-back for less than $200 - and sound decent.
