Default MSD 8.5 wires fitment

i bought the new super conductor 8.5 MSD wires, and tried installing them but the front two on the drivers side seemed to rest on the headers, i didnt even bother with the passenger side. i have MAC headers BTW.

anybody else experience this? anything i can do to make them work?

My #3 would rest on the header sometimes. I just twisted the plug wire where it plugs onto the coil to change the way the wire sat. It has never touched since. Maybe this would help you as well. I dont know how the Mac header are compared to the Hookers.

The plug boots are made to be bent. I have them on my ET heads with a 1/2 spacer. I have the boots bent 45 degrees to reach and not touch the headers.
Try it, you will like it.

When I installed my Qtp's the gray peice on the msd wire that connects to the top of the plug was sticking to my new headers and melting.

thats what mine does, but i took them off as soon i realized they touched the primary tubes...

also, i was thinking... wouldnt bending the boot increase resistance in the wire and mess with the spark and a/f ratio?

Anybody having trouble getting them to double click on to the coil pack?

I'm having a hell of a time with the last coil pack on the drivers side on my Z06.

It feels like and I think I hear two clicks..but then a week later I have to remove and reinstall.

The wires are fine as they work when I swap out the number seven wire to another plug and coil..(two easy clicks and its on) but the one that I put on number 7 again...

I can't get a good double click..I think I hear two clicks but then a week later I'm back to removing and replacing two other wires...

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance..

Even if they bend, they seem to straighten themselves back out. Mine are resting on a primary or two, or atleast very close. I havnt had any problems.

Yeah I had some trouble sometimes making them connect as well. I just played with it untill it was on. It was about 2 wires that gave me trouble.

I had one on the passenger side resting against the header and it got brittle and crack. It didn't melt. It got really hard and brittle. I rubbed it with my thumb and it just flaked away like hard plastic.

Same here, a couple of the rubber boots were resting on the header primary and hardened. Plus, I never was able to get the MSD's to double click like the stockers. The stockers also have the heat shields on the boot to prevent them from melting.

i just installed the MSD's... bent the boots just a tad and they clear the headers fine...hopefully by me shaping them alittle wont result in loss of spark or anything... they didnt double click on the plug, but they double clicked on the coil packs... they should stay on though, i put one on and took it off and it was harder than the stock ones to take off, that thing was on there.
