Default Starting Hooker LT install today, got a few questions

Well lastnight I started taking off the old exhaust. Not as bad as I anticipated but then again I have all winter to work on it. I got most of that off but I have a few questions on the install. I know i should reuse the stock manifold bolts instead of the ones hooker supplied but should I also reuse the stock gaskets or should I use the hooker ones with the red tape stuff they recommend? Also I was wondering if it was worth it to do the blockoff plate with a hole drilled in it mod so I won't get the check valves to flutter right away? I'm sure I'll have more ??'s as the day goes on or weeks for that matter but that is all I can think of for now. Thanks

Jeremy

I reused the stock bolts and gaskets. Yes, do the egr mod. I bought a couple of those thin alunimum numbers that you stick on mailboxes. Bought them at the hardware store. Took about 15 minutes to cut them to size and drill the holes. Works perfect.

I reused my stock bolts but bought new GM gaskets. I cleaned the stock bolts up with a wire brush and PB Blaster to make sure they would thread back in easy. Be sure to do the restrictor mod to save the check valves.

Do NOT use the Hooker supplied bolt... I partially stripped my heads by using them. I removed them and used the stock bolts. BTW, I did use the Hooker gaskets though.

Thanks for the tips guys. Well I started yesterday and got most of the old exhaust off but when it came to the spark plugs is when it got time consuming. How the hell do you get at all of those things to get them out? Is there some sort of trick to those? I got 2 of them out and from there it was a pain. My strut tower brace kept gettin in the way so I started to take that off for more room and that took forever too especially getting at the bolts under the cowl. Well I got that done and it was time to go to work so I guess I didn't get much accomplised. Now I gotta go back down to school for a week and a half so the header project is gonna have to sit and wait til I come back home. I just hope I can get the damn plugs out!

You dont need to take the spark plugs out. Just the plug wires. For that i bought some mechanic gloves and just grabbed the boot and pulled. Once you drop the manifold you can take out the plugs and change them while your in there. Then put the header up. Oh and if you have a girlfriend with small arms and hands you might want her to help with that back passanger bolt. My girlfriend tightened that one for me and told all her friends she did the install.
