Default What's involved in changing a thermostat??

Hey guys! Rookie question again. I read in all the parts magazines that changing the thermostat to a lower setting, increases power. But what else is involved with changing thermostats?? Do I need to use a programmer and make changes?? It's not just an install an go drive my car swap...right? Anybody have recommendations regarding this for a 2005 C5?

You will need to reprogram your fans to come on at a cooler temp, depending on what degree you choose. I wouldn't expect to see much power gain if any.
