Emission Problems.......
Took the SS in Monday for emissions.... 2 readiness monitors werent set,(Evap, O2 Heater) so they had to do the Drive Test...
MS3, P/P Heads, LT's, 3" Catless exhaust.... yeeeeeaaaahh.... Car failed Baddd!! Haha
Hydro Carbons
Mine..... 14.2139 grams/mile
Passing..... .6000 grams/mile
Failed
Carbon Monoxide
Mine..... 30.1918 grams/mile
Passing..... 10.0000 grams/mile
Failed
Nitrogen Oxide
Mine..... .9073 grams/mile
Passing..... 1.5000 grams/mile
Passed!!
My question is.... if I just add CATS to the exhaust, will this be enough for me to pass the drive test, given my results above??
Hopefully someone might have some first hand experience.....
Because the fact that I failed the first time, they will automatically do the drive test the 2nd time....so just wondering if spending the money on CATS will help enough for me to pass...
Thanks!

Nope on both...
There's no way you'll pass with the MS3, cats or not!

You actually passed the Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) which means that EGR is not a problem for you, or at least it wasn't for the test. From the looks of the HC and CO numbers you are running too rich for the EPA the low NOx reading indicates the same thing because rich mixtures produce lower combustion tempratures. Putting CATS on will help cover up some what but might not be enough. Anyway you can get a temporary tune to get you near 14.7 to 1 Air/fuel mixture? That plus the CATs should get you passed. Leaning out your mixture will increase your NOx but hopefully the converter can still cover it up. Also make sure that your car is fully warmed up before you take the test this will heat up the converters so that you get the most of them.

Another thing... I didnt see the old lady at the emission place check the VIN when she got in the car... Who's to say I cant get a buddy with an identical car to swap plates with me and do the test? haha
