Headers???

Headers??? After the holidays I hope to get some headers for my 2000 WS6 but I'm little worried on which brand to get. I got 2 f-body buddies who have had some problems (to put it mildly) with the Mac headers. As soon as they installed the headers it started smoking and useing oil. They both don't have cats on the car. One of them rebuild his motor over this condition and the other switched back to the stock manifolds. Luckly his car is back to normal. Has anyone had this problem with other headers like SLP, Hookers or the FLP headers? Is this problem only with cars with-out cats?
Re: Headers??? Did they tune their cars afterwards? Alot of times headers will cause the car to run alot richer (I think), and they have to be tuned with either an MAFT or better yet, LS1edit. The car will run ok untuned for awhile, but if left alone, from what I've read, it will eventually damage the motor.

Re: Headers??? Neither one of the cars had any tuning. One of them did try a MAF translator but still had the problem. I have read several posts about headers causeing some cars to run pig rich but I was wondering if this was a bigger problem for Mac headers than others? I know one other guy with a SLP's and cats. I don't think his has any tuning but he said his smokes a little untill it warms up. After that I asume it runs fine. I'm not sure if he has 02 sims or not. I'm mostly going off by what I've heard from other people.
