Default Reliability issue.... exhaust

I just purchased a new camaro and am planning on driving it for a long time (it needs to stay dependable). If its possible was thinking of upgrading my entire exhaust system first(headers, y-pipe, and catback exhaust) and i was wondering if there are any "racing" components that i should stay away from. I'm just lookin to gain as much horsepower as i can without giving up liability. I'm in texas and emmissions are a factor. What kind of system would you guys recommend for my situation. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Just do all the bolt ons. You are in the 11s with all the bolt ons. Then if you want you can throw a small shot of the sauce in there. Maybe 100 shot. It only is hard on the car when you spray it unlike blowers and cams and any other mods that hurt the car the whole time. But i would say an all bolt on motor would be good. But remember its not what parts you have that will force the car to break all the time. Its how fast you drive it. If you drive like a grandma on sunday after church then you can build the car up as much as you want driving like that.

Umm.. well.. I drive my car all the time. It's has a full aftermarket exhaust Headers to tail pipe (all Whisper <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> ) ZERO Reliability problems.

BTW: I'll fix that title for ya <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Do what i did today and have the manifolds dumped behind the rear wheels, it sounds really good and you get rid of that cruddy Y pipe and all the extra weight from the piping and you get true duals out of it

I would say Hooker cat back if you are going with headers later. No rasp with them. Headers you can take your pick really. Just depends how much you want to spend. FLPs seem to be the best but they cost alot. I have hookers coated in jet hot and i love them. There were only 550 bucks to my door with the jet hot and all. Each header company has a y pipe that you can get pretty much too. Honestly i would listen to other cars and then go with which set up that sounds the best to you. You are the one that has to drive it so you should make sure you really like the sound.

so does it matter if you mix the hooker headers with a borla exhaust or is it best to stay with the same manufacurer?
