Default Spark plug/WOT ping question

Hey y'all.

Back before I knew better, I spent 4 hours putting in a set of Bosch platinum plugs. The car still runs okay and all, but since the lid and plugs, it pings at WOT over 4500 rpm. Then(months later... ) it hit me the other day... would a colder plug take away the pinging???

So ummm, would it? And would anyone happen to know the NGK equivalent heat range of a Bosch platinum plug for stock LS1?

I would just try a set of NGK tr-55's gapped at .050-.055. No reason to run the platinum plugs unless you're shooting a rap video with an internal engine shot worked in somewhere.

Is a lid the only you have? Do you spray?

Just a lid for now. I have a bead on a nawwwzzz setup, but tha axle would puke all over on the first try... it's tired.

Thanks for the tip... I don't even like rap music!

I'm not saying that new plugs will fix your problems, but tr-55's at .050 should not be the culprit. Are you running 93 octane?

You might want to try some seafoam/top end cleaner (recent thread about it, do a search).

Yeah, I've posted in that thread... Seafoam didn't help with the ping, but the car ran much smoother. And the lowest I've ever ran in the car was 92... but that was back in the winter time.

I know colder plugs don't really run colder. They just pull heat from the cylinders more than hotter ones with more porcelain in the business end... so they actually run hotter, if you think about it. A shot in the dark, but I'm gonna give it a shot.

I once tried Ngk tr6's to help with pinging and it didn't work. They just fouled at 5k miles.
