Default Tips On Spark Plug Install

I am in the process of putting my Hooker LT's on and while I am at it I am adding NGK TR55's also. When I put the new plugs in should I use anti-seize on the threads? The old set was really hard to get out and I was wondering if it would be a good idea since almost every bolt on the motor has anti-seize on it. Also what are you guys using on the tips of the plugs? I see the stock plugs have some sort of grease for a better connection and so they won't corode. What should I use? Also what gap would prolly work well with my mods. Right now they are gapped at .055. Thanks!

Jeremy

I use anti-seize on my plugs. My wires came with some dielectric grease but you should be able to pick that up at any auto parts store.

I agree, anti-seize on the threads and some silicone on the tips.

Anti-sieze on all the threads but the first one (inside the head),very lightly.
Silicon compound (dielectric) on the plug boots, and the ceramic portion of the plug.
I personally do not put the silicon directly on the plug ends/boot electrical contact surface.
I also put it on the coil end boots.
The dielectric grease helps seal the contact area from outside contamination, and makes removal of the plug wires wayyyyy easier.

Oh. Since you are fairly stock, anything from .050 - .059 will probably be OK for plug gap on TR55s. I've run .056, .050, .055 on an internally stock/NA engine and have seen very little difference that I could attribute to plug gap, although it seems that mid 5X gap idles smoother for me.
