Default advice on headers

i'm looking to put headers on my 98 camaro and was wondering is the best kind to put on there. i was thinking about putting some hooker long tubes on what do you guys think?

Welcome to the board.

Do the Hookers come with a y pipe now?

If not, then you might want to consider SLP or FLP headers, they come with a ypipe and cats.

I just put Hooker LT's with their ORP on my '98. I don't think they offer a Y pipe with cats. I haven't dynoed yet but it feels significantly stronger. I'm guessing I picked up 20hp at the wheels. I am 'blown' so my results are different than an NA car.

yes hooker makes a y-pipe for the long tubes headers now. you are not able to use it with cats but i am not worried about that.

u could get teh Hookers, or get the Jet Hot headers. The Jet Hots are an improved version of the Hookers. You can still use the same ORP's and stuff that you use with hookers too. I got the jet hot because they seemed like better headers, and they were cheaper.

I picked up 30RWHP with Hooker Longtubes and Offroad ypipe, I dynoed 305 bone stock, and added only headers and ypipe and went to 335.

just got a set of hookers lt's, hooker ory, cutout, and my stock ws6 catback. the car is stealthy quite with the cutout closed, not much louder than stock, with it open its the loudest thing ive heard next to running open headers.

as far as power gains go i noticed a huge diffrence in low end torque and top end pull. all in all its a great setup IMO. Im sure the jet-hot ones are just as good though so you might wanna consider them.

if you want to keep it quiet get a SLP dualdual and unleash another 20 hp. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> You stock cat- back is restricting the airflow.

My Hookers had a very long list of quailty issues.
Slag in primaries
1/4 of tube not welded, leaked like a MF
O2 bung misaligned, O2 wouldnt screw in
Flanges weren't flat.

FLP for me car goes to finishline for headers,cam,ls6 int.,pulley,and tuning oh yea and there new DUEL CUTOUTS this friday cant wait. I feel like a kid waiting for christmas. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
