Balancer question
Balancer question OK Im kind of in a delima. Im putting a LS1 in a Datsun 240z and decided to go megasquirt for the EFI. Problem is they dont support the LS1 coil on plug setup so I will be using a for edis setup off a 4.6. Now the delima, I need to get the balancer/pulley machined to fit a ford trigger wheel for the ignition BUT Im worried since the LS1's balancer isnt keyed it will spin and my timing will be all over the place. Am I over thinking this and is there a fix? I know you can pin the hub for the timing chain and oil pump but what about the balancer? Also, is there a way to check timing with a timing light on LSX's?
BTW, I know the LS1 has a trigger wheel inside of it but it is not compatible with megasquirt so I cant use it. I did however find a 36-1 wheel that is and is machined to replace the gear in the LS1 but I would rather not have to pull the crank if I dont have to.
