Default Fuel Pump issues...

Hello all...I have been noticeing a high pitched hissing noise comeing from my gas tank area....i am guessing that the noise must be from the fuel pump...has anyone else had this experience? can anyone help give any adivce? I really dont want to replace it, but if i do does anyone have any words of wisdom or adivce?

also there is a stragne noise comeing from either my AIR tube or soemthing like that. As you look at the engine on the right side there sounds like something is turning on and off and when this thing is on it makes a loud hissing kinda of odd noise.

usually the 2 noises happen with each other. so i guess they are connected....

PLEASE HELP...Thank you all...

I can tell you my experience w/ fuel pumps SUCK's.
I have a 98' and my pump went out in 2000 due to not enough fuel (less than 1/4) and 120degree assphalt sitting idle fore an hour during construction. Dealer replaced under warrenty.

Now fast forward to Jan 02'.

Got back from a deployment and found that my gauge didnt work. I inquired about the pump and found this:

Dealer caost $400 rounded fig
Jim Pace: $215 rounded fig
Pump comes with sending unit attached to it unlike 99-02 were there seperate.
98 are the only ones with steal, tanks 99-02 have resin(plastic)
any way I can it's a pain to the tank down. And I wouldn't suggest cutting a panel in your trunk deck to gain access to the pump it dont give you enough. Not that I would know this first hand or anything like that. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />

Any ways to your Q's : My experience is that you should hear a little whinn for a few seconds at start up from the fuel pump and if it gets real loud and constant then its going bad. At least thats what mine did.
And for the engine nois I was told that was you air pump recharging and it was normal.

Im NO expert and all this is just my experiences with my 98'

hope this helps alittle

Your air tube bolts may be a little loose. Try tightening the side that is making noise. When mine was off a little bit I could actually feel little pulses of air coming out.
