Default ??? on y pipes

I know how the Y pipes are different on the 98-99 cars and then on the 00-02 cars, can they be interchanged, if not why. I was reading on a set of cat replacement pipes and it said that for the 98-99 Y pipes I would have to weld, so can I buy a 00+ Y pipe with 00+ cat replacement pipes

The 98-99's cats are down a bit, and the 00+ cats are right next to the oil pan.

What are trying to do?

Our sponsors sell y-pipes with or without cats for the different y-pipes. Just check them out. But my $.02 is to save your money and just get the headers and y-pipe because down the road if you want headers they will not bolt up to your y-pipe.

Peace,
Craig.

no no I know that much, I was wondering because right now i dont have enough for headers and I was lookin at the cat replacement pipes, and it said that the ones for the 98-99 cars had to be welded on, but then it said the ones fo the 00+ cars were bolt on. The thing i wanted to know is if i could get the 00+ style Y pipe and replacment pipes, put it on a 99, and then not have to weld up any thing

Race pipes (no-cats)?
You want to be able to take on/off your cats?
With the different years I think it would depend where your flange for the 98-99 exhaust manifolds are vs where the 00+ exhaust manifolds are. I believe the exhaust manifolds are different.
If you want an off road y-pipe just get that, and swap the y-pipe's when you need to. If thats what you want without the welding.

Peace,
Craig.

No, the '98-'99 bolt-on replacement Y-pipe is not compatible w/the '00-'02 unit. Completely different configuration. Some guys use a band-type clamp, in lieu of welding up the '98-'99 Y on that one side. Hope this helps. WJ.
