cat gone bad?
cat gone bad? i started getting a pinging sound on the right side underneath the car. My gut tell's me the cat converter has gone bad.. engine idels fine everything else is good.. just an anyoing sound. Has anyone had this happen? am i one the right track? <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
Re: cat gone bad? Uhmm When my cat on my V6 camaro went bad, the computer limited my engine. It seemed like 5 of the 6 cylinders had shut down, i had NO power. and the exhaust(had been loud) was now, nothing more than a slight wisper.

Early production 2001 cars have a problem with bad cats, especially the driver's side.
My 2001 Z28 and 2001 WS6 were both built October 2001 and both had to have the cats replaced. (under warranty, of course)

Re: cat gone bad? its a 98, it ended up being a exhaust leak where my shorty headers conected to the stock exhaust, i pulled the headers went with long tubes, off road pipe ,o2's and cat back system. Should have done that from the beging, when it was all over and said and done with,i dont know what i was thinking when i got shorty header to begin with <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" /> this was a sign from the gods above <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
