Default 1 3/4" primaries

Please. I don't want to rehash the old shorty vs. longtubes controversy because there is none. Longtube designs are better at exhaust scavenging, as long as you can deal with the emissions, fitment and noise issues. However, has anyone tried the BBK or a custom 1 3/4" primary shorty yet? I gotta figure they would offer more top-end HP potential than the conventional 1 5/8" tubes, maybe at the expense of low and midrange torque (which longer tube length can get you back). I've always felt it's tough to compare the conventional JBA and Hooker shorties to midlengths and LT's because primary, collector and even y-pipe diameters are not the same. Any experiences or thoughts? I believe it was the Colonel who said that on one of his race setups he plans to use larger diameter shorties or midlengths because they may offer more topend HP potential than LT's. <img border="0" alt="[Burnout]" title="" src="graemlins/burnout.gif" />
