Default Need Some Help Quick

so i just bought a 2001 firebird formula. i purchased the car on saturday in pennsylvania, however, i live in new jersey so i have to have my car inspected within 30 days. i have a problem: my brake pedal is MISSING the rubberized grip on it (just the rubber cover). i've been informed you can fail inspection for not having the rubber grip.

i can't find them anywhere online or at napa, autozone or advance auto parts. does anyone know anywhere where i can get one online that will fit my car perfectly? i could probably order one from a dealer but the pontiac dealer near me closes at 5pm and i don't get off work til 5. by the time i pass them they're long closed any help is appreciated.

Glue a piece of rubber floormat on for inspection. Or buy one from Autozone and see if you can custom fit it to your pedal. I have never heard of that pedal thing for inspection and i lived in NJ until a few years ago.

well, my friend's brother owns a shop and he told me this. whether or not he's right is yours and my best guess, but i'd rather not find out the hard way. one thing i DO NOT wanna do either is buy another set of pedals. can you say "waste of money"? granted they look cool and all but i have better uses of $150.

btw i already looked at the pads at napa and advance auto. there's no way they woulda fit.

Worst case scenario would be to buy some corny aluminum pedal pads temporarily for now if you are worried about it. Or you can go to a junk yard and peel the rubber part off the pedal.

ehh i can't put them on my baby. if i have to buy new pedals i'll have to get something like this:

http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...vid=3&pcid=131

$100+ for pedals...so expensive...but only the best for my baby. if you gotta do it, do it right...well i don't like that design but i'd find something similar in quality.

but that's only if i FAIL inspection...

"hey john, why did you fail inspection?"
"emissions were too high. you?"
"my brake pedal was missing the rubber front."
"...loser..."

Scrounge the junkyard, looks like most any GM pedal pad would fit, or if you still have it use the pedal from your V6 (if they are both the same trans types)
FWIW I passed in MA without a pad for my brake pedal

If you have a credit card you can order the pad from any dealer and have them mail it to your home address.

Or call the dealer, get the part number, and order it from GMpartsdirect.com or SDPC2000.com (board sponser, they might not have it though).
