Default gap on plugs???

Installing ported/polished heads (compression at 11.1:1) and a TR224/224 112 cam. The car has all the bolt-ons (no power adders....). The only change to the ignitions system is a set of MSD 8.5mm plug wires.

I am using Champion RS9YC plugs (on heat range cooler than stock). I have them set at 0.050" gap now. Is that good or should I reduce the gap? If needs to be reduced, then to what?

I'm not familiar with those plugs but that is plenty narrow for your power level. Just don't gap them more than .010 different than where they come pre-gapped.

Moving to External Engine... <img border="0" alt="[burn out]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_burnout.gif" />

They came pre-gapped at 0.039" and I opened them up to 0.050".

You are correct. As a rule of thumb you need to narrow the gap about .004 for every 50 HP you add. .060 is stock so .050 should be good for an additional 125 HP over stock.

Actually, we've found these 8 coil LS1 ignition systems to be so powerful that you can get away with ALOT more than traditional single coil ignition systems.

.050 is perfectly fine for what you're doing and is only .011 more than they came gapped at which is ok (although I wouldn't go any wider with those plugs.) If you were spraying a 150 shot of nitrous I'd tell you to narrow them up a bit.
