ls1 vs ls6 intake
just wondering if runners are larger or
the main tunnel or what?
they look identical from the top!

they look identical from the top! </strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They don't from the bottom. The LS6 intake has a flat bottom. I'm not sure where the exta flow comes from. I would imagine that has somethign to do with it.
The LS6 manifold will provide your engine with a 10% increase in AVAILABLE airflow, IF IF IF your engine is capable of using this increase in airflow.
So, in a "nut-shell", the LS6 manifold is an "improvement" ,over the LS1 manifold in it's ability to let more air flow thru it. It has an increase in plenum volume , and an improvement in runner shape & size.
That's why many LS1 don't see any "gains" with the LS6 manifold, as your LS1 has to have a NEED for the extra airflow...
Some LS1 see LOSES with it... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />
It's the total PACKAGE thing...
It is a NEEDED part of ALL head and cam packages for sure... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Heads/cam cars are usually stifled by the LS1 intake. That's where the LS6 would benefit.
I still can't believe there isn't a good aftermarket alternative to the LS6 intake.
At this present time, it doesn't get an better than this... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
The GM "truck" manifolds would make our cars "rock" depending on the "package" setup. BUT these manifolds won't fit our cars... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />
Holley/Weiand tryed with their NEW LS6 intake design... EVERYONE thought that this would be one A@@KICKING manifold.. NOT !!!
