Default Loudmouth vs. Hooker catbck

I've had my 98 z for about a week now and am already tired of the stock exaust note. I am debating between the loudmouth and the hooker catback. I know that the loudmouth is louder then the hooker system, but I kind of like the way it sounds. Im sure many of you have seen the clip of the hooker cat-back where it's showing the back of the camaro at night. What is that second note that you hear after the rev? It's pretty noticeable, and I love it. Is that something that you get when you have a hooker catback or is there something special about this car that allows it to make that after sound. I don't really know what to call it. My second question is how loud is the hooker system. I've heard that it’s was not that loud and I wanted to know how it compared to other catbacks in terms of loudness. I know its obviously not as loud as the loudmouth, but what about corsa or flowmaster, etc.??? Sorry this is soo long.
Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

stay away from flowmaster. If you got some money, go with GMMG. The corsa is a great setup too, but its not my type. Magnaflow is good n cheap.

I have the LM and its pretty neet on a stock car, on mine..its a lil too loud to drive on the street without getting attention from cops. I'm going to switch to duals.

where in San D are you at?

I am near Lemon Grove. I have a red Z and already seem to get a lot of attention from other people as it is and maybe the loudmouth would bring too much attention. I would love to hear the loudmouth in person though. That would be great!

Good god man, get a hooker. When in doubt always get a hooker...you won't believe the things a hooker can do for you.

Hookers are so easy too, just stick it in and go. You don't even have to rev it up.

AND...hookers are cheap.

Then go buy a Corsa for the car.

There is no comparison. Hooker hands down. Without cats, the LM sounds like an atomic fart. The Hooker stays clean and deep with or without cats.

Thanks in advance!!!!!!!

Hey Joe,
I have an entire Flowmaster American Thunder Cat-Back for sale here in San Diego. It comes complete with custom 3.5" x 12" chrome slash cut tips. I will let the entire thing go for $100. So far it has been my favorite exhuast out of the 3 that I have had. I originally took it off because I wanted something louder, so I went with a Loudmouth and didn't like it, then turned that system into a Dynomouth and it's better but the noise still gets annoying, and I am still experimenting with different mufflers . Eventually I am going to rip everything out and either do some custom duals with really quiet mufflers or a Corsa and a cut-out. So right now the Flowmaster A/T is just taking up precious garage space. But at times I really do regret taking it out, it was deep and throaty but didn't drone anything like my current couple of systems, long road trips on the freeway were much more enjoyable.

Click on the link below for some pictures of it:
http://www.netsnapshot.com/pcw/b?KEY=2&ACCOUNT=10019

Email me at CRollbusch@***.net if you want it... Heck, $100 is close to what those tips cost me alone.

If you decide to do the Hooker...there's a group purchase going on now sponsored by Tybyrne Motorsports (in the ad index to the right). Heck of a deal...you never want to pay too much for your Hooker...at least not in this case

Whoa, comparing the Loudmouth to the Hooker is like comparing a MAC Truck to a Muscle Car.

I have the Hooker system, you can hear the exhaust in my videos below (no long tubes):

If you are thinking of running (catless) LT, here is what it would sound like:

I have more Hooker exhaust videos on my website as well, feel free to check them out.

Just so you know, that soundclip you heard of the Hooker cat-back(in the dark) is of an LT1 Z28 and NOT an LS1 Camaro. Trust me, it won't sound nearly as good on your car as it does on that one.

Don't get the LM, sounds like a damn cutout(just loud noise). Hooker sounds awesome with headers/ory, but will be very quiet on a stock car.

That Flowmaster AT cat-back that guy has is a bargain for $100(its like $300 new). You might wanna give that a try first. Also, try and hear a few different systems in person locally as this helps a LOT!

Yah, I figured it was an LT1 car after I saw the lights. If its not going to sound as good as that car then I may have to search around somemore. If I was to buy that flowmaster, how easy would it be to change the tips to duals on each side??

I listened to clips of just about every exhaust for the LS1. To me, the best sounding are the Hooker and Random Tech. They both sound pretty similar. I decided to go with the Hooker b/c of the quad tips (I like quads on T/A's), and b/c of the TBYRNE group purchase that was mentioned earlier. But, it is a personal preference of what you want your car to sound like.

I'm not just saying it because I own Hooker. Here's what drove my decision >>

I found tons of people selling Loudmouths, and even more saying "I hate this thing now". I didn't find a single person that hated their Hooker. There were some that wished it was louder at idle, but removing the cats will make that happen.

Here's a clip of mine. This is a stock engine, stock exhaust manifolds, stock cats. Yes, that's a supercharger you hear, so you'll have to ignore it to hear the Hooker sound!
