IAC motor becomes a projectile!!

IAC motor becomes a projectile!! Last night during my "idle issue troubleshooting" Nick and I decided to pull the IAC motor and inspect it for visible damage (no matter what we did with the TB set screw we couldn't get Autotap to read anything but 0 ). While I held the IAC motor, Nick turned the key to "run" and the plunger shot right out of the motor! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> The new motor is on order, hopefully this will solve my issues.

Re: IAC motor becomes a projectile!! I have read that certain versions of A-tap do not show an actual reading for IAC position. If this is the case with yours, the new motor will still show 0. Actually, if it's been showing 0 for any period of time you should have been getting a code if there was anything actually wrong with the motor rather than A-tap just not reading it...
Re: IAC motor becomes a projectile!! When I was running a 2.0x version of autotap, my IAC counts read 0 about 90% of the time... every once in a while it would connect and read them right. I went to an old 1.x windows version of autotap and it read them correctly every time. Now that I lost my autotap cable, I think I'm going to just replace it with EASE.

Re: IAC motor becomes a projectile!! I have Atap Windows version 1.10 and it reads IACs just fine all the time... I wonder how many versions have this issue?
