Default Hooker Exhaust

I am planning on buy hooker catback pretty soon and from what I gathered from around the board its not very loud at all when crusing. I have heard an 80 series flowmaster on a ls1 and its pretty loud but I would like something just a tad louder when crsusing. Any comments on how loud the hooker uis when crusing compared to flowmaster? If I cut the cats off my car what would it do loud/tone wise?

i had the flowmaster 80 series on my car whn i got the car and wasn't too loud. i changed to the hooker cat-back the hooker was alittle quieter at idle but is louder at wot and a little louder drivin around. cut the cats off and it gets kinda loud and its nice and agressive sounding. i think that the hooker cat-back sounds better than flowmaster and it flows a lot more. go with the hooker and cut off your cats and you'll be happy with it. everyone else that has done this likes it and everyone that hears mine tells me how much better it sounds now.

So if hooker was like a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10 cutting off the cats would knock it up to a what on that scale? Does it give you any rasp or loudmouth sounding characteristics?

I have Hooker LTs, ORY, and cat-back.

By your little rating scale I would give my set-up above a 6.

As far as rasp goes, if you get rid of your cats, you will never totally get rid of rasp. I have a bullet muffler in my i-pipe that cuts down tremendously on the rasp, but not 100%. But in no way shape or form, would I catagorize it with the shittyness (<--is that even a word? ) of the LM.

I'll be going to true duals within the next coupla weeks!

Hooker cat-back on a stock or stockish LS1 is very quiet at idle and cruise(only gets loud at WOT). If you gut the cat or run off-roads it'll get noticeably louder at all rpms with a little rasp.

Flowmaster is cheap and will do the trick for you(it isn't loud, but not quiet either). The only systems that are louder are Borla, GMMG, and the LM.

Your procrastinating on this exhaust thing way too much man.

Just pick something and give it a try!

hooker with cats would be about a 4 and without cats and my current mods its about a 6 or 6.5

flowmaster 80 series with cats is about a 4 or 5.

thats my opinion of the 2 at about 2,500 rpms.
