Re: Quick Question... Labor on LS6 Intake???
GM Warranty time will pay the technition
1.9 hrs, so multiply that by 1.3 and that should
give you a rough estimate in labour time.
2.5hrs??
Hope this helps,
Dave

Re: Quick Question... Labor on LS6 Intake???
You need the LS6 intake, the LS6 coolant crossover pipes, and the rear blockoffs. You also need to block off the egr hole in the passenger side manifold/header.
You can do the swap yourself you can even just ghetto it and leave the fuel rail hooked up and pull it out of the way but you might want to pick up a few extra injector o-rings.
Intake swap should only take an expert 1 hour. I can pull off one in 15 minutes.

Boo Yeah,
I just performed this swap on Saturday and it took me 3 hours to do the swap, with breaks in between to eat lunch and work on my brothers car. I got the manifold from TyByrne w/the EGR provision, which actually turned out to be a big problem. My EGR tube would not fit into the fitting that is supplied and I had to engineer a set up to work.
BE PREPARED for scratchs when trying to reach the very back bolts and the brake booster hose was a mother F%#ker to take off,( <img border="0" alt="[shoot]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_guns.gif" /> hose from brake booster). I am happy with the results, and definitely notice that my car pulls harder to red line above 4000 rpms.
All in all, it was worth it.

Re: Quick Question... Labor on LS6 Intake???
My CPA billing rate per hour is $600!!!! (I even GASP at this when new clients' ask)
When ever I work on my wife's car, it is free of charge, however. Unfortunately, (i) I can't legally deduct the fair value of this very valuable service, and (ii) I hate working on German iron ('79 Benz).
When I work on my own car, I charge myself the full CPA rates. After the job is complete I leep asking myself, "why I'm I continuing to go to myself for these Camaro hotrod mods; its way too expensive!!!!!"

Re: Quick Question... Labor on LS6 Intake???
...if I were swapping an intake on our cars, I would allow about 3 Hrs,the first time. So many folks seem to break the Oil Sensor Solenoid on their first intake install. But more experienced folks can, indeed, do a very quick changeout. Remember, the only thing is to do it right, not fast. Don't forget your torque wrench! Plastic breaks.
Hard to say what a Dealer would charge, hourly rates vary up and down the coast. I personally would not pay more than 2 Hrs labor for an intake install.

Re: Quick Question... Labor on LS6 Intake???
I'm a CPA who worked as a transmission mechanic for three years in the late 70's....
Working with hand tools only, swapping my manafold in an F-body took approximately eight hours of hard work....granted, I had not changed any LS1 manafolds before and I could do it in less time now.....maybe 4 or 5 hours with the knowledge I gained from one swap...
...Buy a kit with the ERG valve fittings and one with the new block-off tubes for the antifreeze that is rooted under the pre-2001 manifolds...LSI Inc. sells these and they are well worth it!
....you should get some hand tools and try it yourself...it is not hard with instructions from the Net....
