Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging?

Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? The Y-pipe for my FLP LT headers bangs like hell. It hits the floor pan on the driver side.
I read one post that claimed substituting a poly transmission mount in pace of the factory rubber trans mount cures the problem.
Has anyone else used this with success? I did not think the factor mount permitted the trans/engine to move that much but I could be wrong.
If this does not work, I will dump the Y-pipe and go with stright doubles that dump just ahead of the rear wheels. Assuming I use cats and a glass-pack muffler will this be legal?
Other cars (69 vette and Vipers) use the side dump exhaust so why can't I use it?

Re: Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? no, dumps are not legal unless its in a pickup, at least here in texas. It relates with fumes getting in the car. I would say make some sidepipes.

Re: Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? The poly trans mount may help alitle, but it won't totally cure it. I have had my poly trans mount for about a year, and I finally stepped up to poly motor mounts. I use to use a torque strap, and that worked! Now with the motor mounts, I might be able to get rid of the strap.

Re: Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? what do you know, someone has the same stupid problem out there. Actually, mines even worse. Not only does my y-pipe do the banging. My rear differential bangs on my exhaust as well (that when I floor it only though).
I will take it back to where I've got it installed and get those ****'s to space it out and install it the way its supposed to. Oh yeah i got an exhaust leak as well <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />

Re: Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? Well I had a poly trans mount before getting the FLPs so it's hard to say for sure, but I have no banging problems. I did have slight banging at WOT on the passenger side Cat clamp(front one) when I first put the cats on. So I removed the the clamps and reinstalled them making sure they were snug on top and if there was any gap it would be on the bottom. Haven't had a banging problem since.
Try adjusting the clamps first, if that doesn't work don't be afraid to try and pry the headers a little bit to adjust their angle. I'd use wood or something softer than metal to do so, so as not to damage your headers.

Re: Poly Trans. Mount Cures Y-pipe Banging? I have macs but I was having the same problem.I did several things to get rid off my y-pipe banging. Poly-u tranny and torque arm mount,aftermarket lower control arms,and adjusting my y-pipe as low as possible. It seemed like my y always banged when I had bad wheel hop doing those four things fixed both of my problems.
