The rasp is pretty bad, especially with an open cut-out.Closed it's not too bad.One thing that helped somewhat was the addition of a dynomax Bullit muffler in the I-pipe before the cat back.I've also heard that eliminating the ball flanges & replcing them with actual collectors
helps, too. The only problem with that last one is I have yet to find a shop that'll work on the headers in-car.

I'm running Macs w/ custom OR pipes and MAC Y to a GMMG. Rasp was also bad until I did the MAC merge collector/extension mod(poor man's LT) with 3" flanges, which eliminates the ball flanges. Now rasp is virtually eliminated even with the OR pipes

Yes, that will be the end of your problems, and you might notice a power increase because of more flow over the ball joints.

When I had Macs, I put dynomax race bullets in the Y-Pipe. Got rid of 80% of the rasp and was much more tolerable.

Alchemist.....just find any good shop that doesn't mind working on a car w/out cats, and tell them you want the ball flanges cut off and replaced w/3' collector flanges, as well as your ORP's and Y pipe. This work can be done w/out removing the headers from the car.

He'll prolly need to put an X" length extension in the collector portion to weld the flange to, but this will get rid of the rasp 90% or more depending on your setup, should make a few more rwhp by breathing a bit freer, as well as making the exhaust really easy to disasemble/work on when the need arises.

My setup is kind of a bastard system in that I had FLP " type " quick disconnect ORP's and cats fabbed up running into the MAC Y, then into a GMMG, but gotta addmit sounds good to my ear
