Bassini vs. MAC dimensions?
A MAC rep told me the ID of the ball flange on the header was 2.5" - exactly the same as the y pipe. I eyeballed a header once and it looked like less than 2.5" to me. Does anyone have one that can be measured? What is the ID of the ball flange on the Bassini headers?
Lastly, does anyone have photos of the Bassini headers mouted on their car. I have never been able to find one and I really want to see how well / low they hang.
Thanks!
I don't have any pics of them on my car, but you only lose about an 1" of clearance with the Bassani Y over the stock Y.
As far as the ball flange, I didn't actually measure the opening but it looked the same as the Mac opening from what I've seen of them.
One big plus about Bassani besides how well they fit and how easy the install was...they are the only LS1 headers that I know of that are made of 14 gauge metal rather then the 16 or 18 used on other LS1 headers. They should last longer due to that..., also the ceramic coating they come with seems to hold up a lot better then most of the coatings I've seen on other LS1 headers, maybe cause the metal is a thicker gauge, or it's just better coating....
RPM: Do you have any rasp with the ORP? You going to have your car out at all this winter? I'd like to see / hear your setup if you do!
As far as rasp, the only time I seem to hear any is under certain rpm loads once the TC locks up. It's not like the normal kazoo sounding rasp that a lot of ORYs give you though, it's rather unique actually. I can't stand the typical rasp, but I'm just fine with how this one sounds. Actually, I'm not even really sure you can call this "rasp", it's something different IMO. And you really don't hear it very often at all. Also depends on the cat back. I've had A LOT of different exhaust setups, and with one of the queiter catbacks, there is no rasp at all with the Bassanis & ORY. The Bassani catback I have now is kinda on the loud (but very deep) side, so you hear something that isn't quite rasp, but isn't quite not rasp...if you know what I mean <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> Sorry if that's confusing!
