Default Spark Plugs

I was reading somewhere on here that you should change your plugs around 30,000 miles. Also that the plugs are gapped all over the place from the factory.. Is this true???

Also I see that a lot of people are using NGK Plugs... Which are better the NGK G Power Platinum
or the NGK VX Platinum???? And the gap .050???
