Thermostat mod
Thermostat mod I am doing the "160* thermostat mod". Does anyone know what size washer/spacer I should use? I want to achieve a 160* operating temp??? Anyway to check it once it's done? Heat water on the stove with the thermostat and see when it opens I assume? Thanks Darrin <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Re: Thermostat mod Not sure I follow the thermostat "mod" part. Are you just switching to a cooler unit? If so, you may want to consider not going that cool. You may want to go ~ 180* or so. LS1's don't mind a little heat to run well! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The only gasket there is down there is a rubber O-ring that sits under the housing. You may also want to cover or remove your drive belts. Mine got some coolant on them and started to squeal like crazy after about a month. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" /> I'm not sure if the coolant caused it, but I'd put $$$ on it. Overall, a fairly easy job.
