Default Which Thermostat???

Which one should I go with? Then what do I use to turn my fans on earlier and at what temperature.

I changed to a 180* Hypertech unit. The only way to get the fans on earlier is to either get a fan switch and run them manually, or reprogram with tuning (HPP3, etc.)

Here is a great method to change your stock
thermostat to what ever temp you want

http://www.ls1info.com/article.php?sid=180

I use the fan switch mod.. to turn on fans in
traffic and in staging lanes.. I have an after
market temp gauge to display true temps..

I run no thermostat in the warm months,
and a 195* in winter.

Use the free thermostat as mentioned above!
http://ls1info.com/article.php?sid=180

Then do the automatic fan switch.

Both of the above mods will run you $15-$25 depending on what thermostatic fan switch you use. The car will run consisent temps no matter weather, road, or traffic. The best part is they are super easy mods, the wiring is very little and NO wiring into the cabin. You also don't have to remember to turn the fans on/off as you do with a switch. Many folks have lost batteries that way.
Good luck

A self modded thermo combined w/earlier fan turn on times will make for cooler running in the summer.
Great summer mod, not so good in cold weather. The advantage I see for a commercial thermostat is that it stays totally closed until reaching it's opening temp-except for the small bypass orifice-whereas a modded thermo may hold the thermo open some even when totally relaxed. Depends on what climate you drive in in the winter, I guess.
Where is Glasgow? In the US I mean. :-)
