Lou Short Stick Help Hi there:
I just purchased the Part #52501-BLK - Short Stick for the Factory-Installed Hurst Shifter for my 2002WS6.
FYI, I have a factory Hurst Shifter.
However, after installing the stick and screwing the Hurst shifter **** I notice that, in idle and in 1st and 2nd gears there is some slight vibration kind of noise coming from the shift stick area. When I take the Hurst Shifter ****, the noise goes away and when I screw the **** on, the noise comes back.
What do u think it could be and how can I resolve this issue.

If so, the lous prbably removed it, also by doing that now there is no noise supression, hence the noise will come out, and then when you put the **** on it probably does one of two things
1. **** acts like a amplifier and resonates noise
2. **** acts like a weight at the top and causes the vibration to increase.

Re: Lou Short Stick Help Here's your remedy. Get either small rubber O-rings/or a piece of inner tube. Put the O-rings over the bolts on the fork side and re-attach. If you can't find those cut out a small piece of inner tube and place this between shifter rod and fork coming out of transmission. Tighten the bolts.
You should of bought the Qwik Stik. All new Qwik Sticks come with these small O-rings to help reduce the noise thats emitted from the transmission associated with this type of aftermarket shifter rod.

Re: Lou Short Stick Help Factory hurst stick is a bizarrely twisted chunk of metal, with HUGE rubber isolator.
I have a slight rattle with my LSS also. Easiest fix is on the steering wheel. I just tap the Volume UP button a few times, and I don't hear the shifter anymore <img border="0" alt="[driving]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_driving3.gif" />
Also, since I put the Corsa Dual Dual on, I never hear it.
If it really bugs you, you might try wrapping some very thick rubber bands or bugee cord arounf the stick, under the boot. This may help if the noise is caused by resonance. Haven't tried it though.
