Default Anybody have an AIR pump go bad????

I have the TA in because its throwing a code, something about "..secondary air injection malfunction". The dealer says my AIR pump is bad. The car is '98 with 53K on it. I thought these pumps were good for over 100K. My extended warranty covers everything except the pump.....
Do you think this is <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> ???

I work for a dealer near Toronto so
this wouldn't really apply to you but up here
in Canada we have been having some problems
with the AIR pumps sucking in water and freezing
and then the pump is inoperative.
Hope this helps some how??

Yes.
Water is the reason the '00 and up cars have the snorkel tube. My 99 SS ate an air pump (secondary air injector code). It was under warranty.

I bet if you ask around.. "Wanted" section. Someone will sell you one for cheap.

where exactly is our AIR pumps?? I think there is something wrong with mine, but i dunno for sure. There has been something under the hood on the driver side turning on and shutting off. and it SQUEELS REALLY LOUDLY when it is on. anyway i took it too a mechanic and he said my air pump was messed up and it needed replacing, but i like to try to fix things myself. So anyway that brings me back to the origional question. Where exactly is the AIR pump on our cars?

You can access it through the little "trap door" under the bumper right in front of the tire. Hope that helps. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
