HEADERS INSTALL ON LS1?????
I figure that the cutouts need to be welded , so a friends will do that, so mainly i am worried about the headers???
Thanks
driver's side: i took off the AIR tube and the header and went in from the top with a lot of effort. the oil filter was in the way and i ended denting the crap out of it. also some people uncouple the steering column.
pass side: take off AIR, EGR, coil pack, valve cover. went in from top very easily. some people have to grind down a little piece on the engine block, i luckily did not.
the night before, i would soak all the bolts in liquid wrench or equivalent, especially the manifold to y-pipe bolts.

pick up a few plugs and get the gm metal header gaskets and air tube gaskets as well.

Be careful undoing the steering column and be sure not to move it even a little after you do. Some people have had pretty bad steering problems after doing that.

What kind of problems? I had to take mine apart & we turned the wheel a bit to access the bolts that hold it on. The steering wheel is in the correct position after putting the steeiring yoke back on. The car is still on jackstands though & would like to know what to watch out for when I go test drive her later this week/weekend when I'm done with my install.
As for the header install, if you are going to do away with Air/EGR, make sure you get the block off plates, gaskets for them & some nuts, bolts & washers to fasten them with. If your car is older you should get some GM gaskets for the headers. You may want to change the plugs & possibly the wires if you got the extra $$ & if they have lots of miles on em.
Your biggest time saver would be to get a compressor & a 3/8" air ratchet. A variety of extensions from 1" to 10" or more & almost all if not all of the bolts were metric.
