Default headers and muffler question

i was looking at getting some shorty headers for my 2000 LS1. any recommendations? i was looking at the hooker ceramics for about $499, does anyone know anywhere else cheaper? im not lookin for long tubes yet, dont have the money. any one know where i can get some replacements for the cats with just the strait pipe w/ o2 sims? i want to bolt them in and out for inspection. should i jsut to go the local muffler shop? also, how much more power would i get from corsa cat back compaired to a flowmater? BTW i have the slp y-pipe already, thanks

Hooker Longtubes (coated)= $630.00
Spend another $130.00 and get longtubes.
Eventually you will want to get longtubes and so the labor of installing and uninstalling and then trying to sell your shortys is going to be a great loss.

if i get long tubes dont i need to replace my ypipes too? and then i need to buy cat's also...i heard it was like 1300 for all of it. im not worried about labor because i will be doing it myself. the only thing keeping me from getting long tubes is the setup with ypipe because i already got the slp ypipe. what would all have to be done with long tubes and what am i looking at for price?

hooker long tubes with ceramic coating $580
hooker y-pipe $170
total of $750
then go get a pair of high flow cats and have them welded in. you can keep your slp y-pipe and have high flow cats coming of the headers but you'll have to have someone do some work to the slp y-pipe to make it work.

you should get rid of the slowmaster for sure.

Shorties will give you little to no gain.
Id go with QTP even though they are more expensive

If you are going the shorty route, I would go with the soon to be released BBK headers that have 1 3/4" primaries. I gained 10 rwhp and 10rwtq everywhere with them as well as a more pleasing exhaust note. There could be more power to be seen from them with more mods and tuning (I am running rich with them). My only other mod is a lid.
