Default 99 and 01 engine differences?

I am wondering, if I were going to swap a 99 engine into my 2001 would I run into any problems??

I know my car is not equiped with the egr or air pump, and the 99 is. but other than deleting those, what else?? I would also be switching the computers from each car.

All info needed...ASAP!! Thanks!

Keep the intake and full wiring harness from the '01. There are many small things in the motor that different.. starting with the cam.

Sorry, I should have been more clear.

My gf is buying a 99 Trans Am with H/C and alot of other mods. She is not interested in any of the high perf. stuff, and agreed I could swap the engines from one car to another because they both have the same mileage and my 01 is stock, which is what she wants. both have the LS6 intake...I guess what I mainly needed to know, is the wiring harness the same in both vehicles?? Thanks.

Not only would it be easier, but there have been a number of minor improvements in the 01+ LS1s besides just the LS6 intake (piston slap, oil consumption, etc).

Also, it's illegal to put a 99 motor into an 01 car. The engine being used for the swap has to be the same age or newer then the car it's going into... Not like they'd ever really notice. <img border="0" alt="[judgement]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_judge.gif" />

Hmm, I didnt think about just swapping the heads and cam.

Funny thing is, my 01 SS has oil consumption issues...soo I am not too worried about that. I dont know if I will be doing the swap myself or not, as its very time consuming, even tho I have a full shop at my disposal. My other option would be have the swap done, which I already have a price on. Basically I am getting about 10K worth of mods free, soo the extra cash for install labor is not a problem and is much more convenient. I am not worried about having a 99 motor in a 01 car because we dont have any kind of emissions or inspections where my car is registered.
