Default Cut out worth it?

I am getting Jet Hott LT and y and putting in some carsound cats. Would it be worth running a cut and where should it be? (dual/single) I will not open them up very much ... just for the track and some times maybe just for fun.

Let me know what ya think

Greg

Here's a little of my personal experience combined with some things I've heard.

I gained 17 RWHP when I opened mine up. For a long time, I ran mine open all the time. Some of the local exhaust shop gurus around here swear that they are bad for power when closed because of the turbulence they create in the Y-joint of the pipe. Is it a measureable loss? Who knows. All I can tell you is that in my case it was good for 17 to the tires.

Mine was welded into the I-pipe in front of the passenger rear tire so there was enough space to get under there and take the wingnuts off. With the newer e-cutouts, you won't even have to worry about that! Align it in the pipe so that it points just a bit down away from the floorboard so you don't get the resonance in the car too bad. You are gonna get some but this will keep it down a bit. Best of luck!

yes, it is totally worth it. first of all, it sounds bad ***. i leave mine uncapped all the time. but i wouldnt if i were u because ur car will start to rattle on the inside. but that is the ONLY downside. trust me, u will find a noticable difference in power. its a no brainer, it only costs $35. GET IT. i have mine right before the axle.

My opinion is that it really seems to depend on your motor combo, and also the cat back you run.

On stock exhaust, a cutout os gonna be worth more that on a free flowing catback.

I got 4HP and 4TQ before the cam. I have the Dual Dual, and it is known for flowing really good. On the other hand, someone with a more restrictive cat back could see more than double that no problem.
