Hey AF,

Hey since I live in Boston too, I can tell you what the problem is: salt. My FLPS have some discoloration on the bottom from a little salt action. These coatings don't like the salt.

The amount of salt used in this area this winter has been tremendous. If you think just your headers are corroding, wait till you see what the salt has done to the rest of your car.....New England sucks for using a nice car in winter. Default Hooker Header Corrosion??

I was changing my oil this morning and noticed the coating on my headers is falling off. Has anyone experienced corrosion of their headers like this? The pictures aren't the best, but I think you get the idea. The pipes look almost like new about 2-3 inches up from where you can see on these pictures.

I agree about salt being harsh, but is there any chance you ran engine very lean at wot, like with nitrous or just tuning for power? Extreme temps may cause this but usually primary pipes would be affected first.
