How to determine optimal exhaust pipe size?
Re: How to determine optimal exhaust pipe size? I don't think there is a formula, but for a dual system the recomendation I have heard is 1.5X the size of the header primary tubes.
1.75" primaries would ideally need 2.625" pipe. Most folks just go with a 2.5" pipe if they are worried about clearance (on a 4th Gen. F-body); or if they desire mid range torque over outright power. If max power is your goal and mid range torque is not; then move up to dual 3" pipes.
or a single exhaust (Y-pipe or stock style), I have no idea.
