rasp??? What does rasp sound like?
I just installed LT headers and Y pipe,(no cats) and the sound is Unbelievable up to about 3K rpm. Then it starts this poping noise through the rest of the rpm band. This the poping noise rasp? If so would a bullit muffler help out? The noise I am talking about is above 3K not on the idle down. Sounds kinda like a popping/rattling. Thats the best I can explain it.

Re: rasp??? Rasp (to me) is a flat "clapping" sound, distinguishable from the deeper rumble that we want to hear from the exhaust. Various systems exhibit this characteristic at different RPMs and throttle position, but it sounds "cheap". Drone is the "vibration" inside the car that some systems exhibit at certain RPMs.

Re: rasp??? That clip had little to no rasp, he has a GMMG exhaust I think and they don't have the raspy sound like the Loudmouths do. Find a clip of a loudmouth, like someone else said, that's RASP!

LT+ORYP+LM= Rasp that can scare people from 2450-3000rpm
When my car hits its "good" point it can scare people, literally. I drive around with it at about 2700 and when a car goes by i goose it and watch the taillights kick in <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I think i am the only human being that loves the rasp and the way my car sounds in general, that is why i am switching to a factory wth a cut out.
But anyways bac to the question, rasp is a type of sound that when heard usually is not liked. rasp is a flat sound with a very harsh metal sound.
the best way to describe it is, have you ever heard a harley letting itself rev down after an acceleration?? that mixed up "blawwwwwwww" sound. You know were it sounds shity to everyone but the harley few?? If not the next time you see one with loud pipes listen for the deceleration and the down shift, then the sound it makes. That is the closest thing to rasp, but imagine it on the up side.

Re: rasp??? I'll see if i can get a video up of my car, so yall can hear what it sounds like (like crap above 3K). I am hopefully getting cated y pipe madse some time this week. Hopefully that will help.
