Default Oil Consumption solved....

I have the car below with only 16,000 miles on it and had a bad oil consumption problem. 1 Quart of Mobil 1 5w30 every 500 miles..!!!! Updated the PCV valve with the new one from GM (which solved the deceleration smoking with the MAC's and some of the consumption) and changed to Royal Purple 20w-50 and 90% of the consumption has been reduced.

LS1tech leads the way when it comes to fixing things....that's for sure.

Dont know the part# but if you search either here or the internal engine section under "updated PCV" then you should find it.

I heard thats too heavy and will casue a big loss of HP! any ideas? my car never used a drop of oil before the headers with Amsoil 10w-30

I am having good luck with the new valve as well. Actually, it's not a valve at all. That's the trick to the new design, it's got a much smaller orfice, but no vavle inside. Part number is 12572717. I'm 99% sure of that part number, but it would be great if someone could confirm it. I have so many numbers floating around here that sometimes they get mixed up. I'm almost positive that's the number though...

I'll lose the 5-7 h.p. and that's an extreme case of h.p. loss I would think. Patman you are welcome to correct me if I am wrong on this. I would think for the 5.00 quart of oil every 1-2 weeks is worth it... Plus I could just spray a little more....
