Nothing against Shaner, but I have seen both peice's of work up close and i'd have to say my Bauer looked a little more worked. There are some area's that Brett hits, that some others miss. I'd definately give him a shot, you won't be disappointed in the work.

I did my own research before ordering mine and went with Bauer. TB seems to get worked over more than the others and customer service (email response) is great. Mine should be here end of this week if Bret mailed it out today I'm getting it dynoed with just his TB end of this month and I'll post results.

Reasons not to use a Shaner:

1. He doesn't powdercoat
2. He isn't a sponsor
3. I sent my Shaner S2 to Jantzer to be powdercoated and ported a little more, I find out that my S2 is lacking in many areas that Jantzer/Bauer hit

No personal experience with the Jantzer or the Shaner, but I can tell you that my Bauer TB made a big difference and was well worth the $$$.

The Shaner S2 that I just upgraded to my specs was lacking in the following areas.

1. The lip in the TB (the biggest restriction) wasn't opened up much from stock and there was an abrupt edge left.
2. Nothing was done with the throttle shaft
3. Nothing was done to the blade
4. The entrance wasn't streamlined
5. The epoxy didn't mesh well

I did like the fact that he uses what looks like a copper tube in the epoxy instead of drilling for the iac motor & pcv. I've been looking to do something similar, it's much easier to get the hole lined up this way. And the exit out of the TB is blended which I'm not sure helps, but it probably can't hurt unless it's bigger than the manifold entrance.

I've had my quirks in the past learning how to get everything right, but I pretty well have it dialed in now.

Still with that tube it's not the easiest way to do it. It's not easy to use JB Weld, where you can use the right epoxy and do it much easier.

Point #1. The best way to do that is to BORE OUT THE LIP!. No way a hand grinder is the best way to do that.

Thanks for all the info!! What type of gains can one expect with the bauer TB?? The motor is a basically stock LS1, with soon to have mac headers? Should I even be considering this, even though every little bit helps??

It's a common misconception that they're all the same. I've seen several competitiors TB's and have upgraded them. Take a look at the TB's that are available, you tell me what you see. Some flow significantly more than others.

I would agree that there is a difference. The Katech, Thunder, LPE and others are not close on the flow. The only good way to tell is to put them on a flow bench.

Yeah I just want the best one and I don't want to start a pissing match. I have heard good about both who have replied.

My motor needs alot of air and the heads flowed over 321 on the intake, I figure that the stock TB is choking the **** out of it. I would just like to see one give me atleast 10rwhp gain that would be super nice.

BTW will this much more air coming cause me to have to retune everything....will it make me leaner or richer?

LOL...I just realized there is a quik 99SS and a quickws6 posted on here and my website is qwkws6....lol

i know Bret runs a 108-109 w/ just a TB Lid and filter on street tires with the LS1 intake.

Once you have a ported TB it's not a restriction in the intake system anymore.

It does help but it's not needed.

With that much cfm in your heads, you could use more TB flow, it should help you get at least 10rwhp.

Ok I guess I'm convinced so what is the turn around on one of these things? Just curious to know. I really don't want a wild color either.

10 more hp would make me feel alot better.
