RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
I've had my Jet-Hot coated Hooker Headers for about 9 months now. Never driven the car in snow. I first saw the rust a few months ago, but didn't think anything of it. But now that I put my car on my lift, I could see a bit more closely what it looked like.

I am not happy. <img border="0" alt="[bang head]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_banghead.gif" />
What should I do?

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
Sorry to see them go to waste like that.
I expect that all coated steel will degrade like that over short period of typical street driving where you have precipitation. Regardless of the warranty, pulling them, shipping them and waiting ten plus days for them to return them to you would really take the fun out of owning the headers for me.
Good luck with the warranty work.

Actually, Jet Hot advertises a lifetime warranty against things like rust and corrosion. Sucks that this happened, but you should have no problem getting them to replace it for free.

That would certainly upset me! Especially after only nine months.I'ts nice they will recoat them for you,but they should give you a little something for your trouble. My FLP's have been on for a year and still look new.Heh,now would be a good time to slap a pair of stage 2 heads on.

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
Is everyone haveing this problem with the Jet-Hots? I was going to originally buy hookers, but everyone said go with jet-hot coating. Now I see this <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
Is ceramic coating the way to go?

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
Wouldn't it make more sense to wait a little longer to send them back for recoating?
I mean unless it's urgent and they're rusting all the way through (not likely) I would wait another year and simply extend the life of the new 'warranteed recoating' that much further as well especially if there's still the chance that they will start to show surface rust AGAIN after a year. Labor, shipping costs etc...I would plan as to only do all that once in the future.
Maybe not though.

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
Now that Jet Hot no longer sells the coated Hooker LTs (they used to), who currently does the Hooker coatings?
And do the newer Jet Hot LTs rust as much as the older Jet Hot-Hooker LTs do I wonder?

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
My passenger side SLP LT is doing the same thing even with the ceramic coating!! I have only had them around a year also. In your case I don't think that ceramic coating will help. I just got a gren pad and lightly rubbed on the header and the surface rust came off.

Re: RUST on my Jet-Hot headers
Interesting because last time I checked SLP's were stainless...rust could be surface born or from other areas. I've now seen many coated headers with some rust which origionated from minot rust on the header before the coating process was performed. Hard to stop it. Mild steel headers...few years..coated header...few more...stainless...uh... priceless.
