Default Did free mods- have pinging- plz help!!

Got a stock MAF and descreened it, also did FRA,TBbypass, and Fernco hose. Have SLP lid w/K&N. I am now getting some serious ping from 4500-6000 rpm. I still have my screened MAFS on a shelf. I don't have access to any scan tool at this time. My question is: Should I try turning my descreened MAFS around?, as I have heard that this will richen up a bit, or should I put my screened MAFS back in? Also will the difference be immediate? or do I need to reset, or allow computer time to adjust to the change? I know, I need to get some kind of scanner, just money is tight now!
Thanks for any, and all help!!!

Turning my maf around did nothing but throw an SES light. Put the screen back on or get a MAFT or LS1edit.

Thank you MOBE! I just put my MAF w/screen back on and took her out for a few WOT 1-2-3 blasts, and there is no sign of the ping!! I'll see if it comes back once the computer has a chance to make any adjustments. If not(and I don't expect it to)I geuss I'll have to switch back over to the screened side of the infamous screen/descreen debate!(without MAFT or edit).
Thanks for the quick response!!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Whenever you change anything on the intake side you really should reset your computer, I would try that and if you still have pinging put the old MAF back on and make sure you there are no leaks on the Fernco hose, it doesnt fit right and I would put the accordian bellow back on.

I just put the screen back in and the ping is gone. There are no leaks on the fernco, it does fit right(it was cut when installed). Didn't reset the computer though, so will see if it comes back. Thanks.

Many people are finding out the hard way that the stiff fernco will crack the lid when the engine torques. At the very least, it should be watched closely, as it will rip loose from the clamps now and then.

I spent the $50 for the new Direct-flo bellows from LS1 Motorsports and highly recommend it if you want a smooth bellows. I put it on with the 85mm MAF, so I don't know if it helps much alone or not.

As far as the MAF - I just put in a screened Granetteli from LS1 Motorsports, and it did give me some more mid and high end. Worth the $150 in my opinion - at least on my car.
