You might gain a tiny bit from filling those openings but from what I read it's not much. Remember you can't fill them completly either. You either need to make 2 tubes to put in before you epoxy or drill two holes out later. I'm going to port a TB next week and I'm still not sure whether I'm going to fill that area or not. I'd love to see some firm numbers on gains if you fill those in if any of the experts have any.

I know one guy used Bondo but if I were going to fill them I would use epoxy not Bondo. It would be a tough lesson to learn if the Bondo gave way under WOT and grenaded the engine.

I ported,halved the shaft, and did the bump stop mod on mine and installed it before I filled the holes and noticed a nice improvement. I then went back and filled the holes with liquid steel and did some more minor porting and didn't feel any real noticeable difference from before.

Seems to me that filling it in with anything is just one more opportunity to get something sucked into your engine that you don't want there, seeing as the gains are minimal, I wouldn't waste the time, effort, money or risk.

Even though I didn't feel any real sop gains I would do it again if I had to do it over, for the simple fact that I want to make every improvement possible. Even though I couldn't feel any difference I'm sure it made some, probably on the top end which is harder to notice.

Good question. I know must people use a Dremel but can anyone tell us the exact part number for the bits that work best?

Just use the 80 grit rolls(dremel) to remove the majority of the material and then 40 grit to smoothe it up and then like 200 or 220 sandpaper for your final smoothing. I wouldn't use any carbide type bits, that would remove way too much material.

Cool thanks. I was going to go buy some of the carbide tips too. Glad I asked.

What do you suggest I use if I decide to fill the hole in?

the links not working now::

wouldnt u use the 40 grit first to remove the majority sense the lower the number the rougher then 80 to smooth

That is saying a lot right there. I'm not filling mine in. If it's good enough for Bo it's good enough for me!

I agree. Like I said above, I did it because I wanted to eliminate every possible restriction or obstruction. I used Liquid Steel and it worked awesome. It wasn't really that hard at all to apply or grind away and it set up in no time. I would do it again in a heartbeat, because it was just too easy. As far as the dangers go... I'll let you know if something happens
