Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
Ok, an exhaust upgrade is incoming for my 98 TA. Currently its stock, and for the price (broke college student here) I have been looking at the magnaflow and SLP loudmouth. While I have much info on the loudmouth, I haven't heard much on the Magnaflow. Any information on sound, gains, quality, or the like are as always, much appreciated.

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
OH! NOBR hit home with his comment, if girls won't mind riding in it with Magnaflow, that is the one I must go with. J/K, thanks alot for the info. When you speak of sacrificing some hp, are we talking 3-5hp, or like 10?

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
Actually, I doubt you'll be sacrificing any hp. The magnaflow is a straight through design and I've heard many claim it doesn't lose much at all over a open cutout on the dyno.

I have loudmouth and I like it. However if I had it to do all over again I would have gotten the Magnaflow and a cutout. That way you have the best of both worlds. Loud when you want it that way and quiet to keep the cops away.

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
I have the Dynomouth and I love it!!! I have a buddy that has the Magnaflow and I think it sounds like crap. He also has his "cat" on. If you want the most flow, then Dynomouth is the way.

Another vote for the Loudmouth here too. I love mine & wouldn't trade it for anything. That could change in the future when I add LT's but for now I didn't see much point in changing the exhaust unless it a noticable difference in sound & HP. Take a ride in a car with in installed & you'll know if it's the right exhaust for you or not. That's what sold me on it!

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
Maganflow is the better overall exhaust. You "might" sacrifice some horsepower, but the Magnaflow is better than Excedrin for exhaust drone headaches.
Quality is top notch, and you actually get a muffler...so girls won't mind riding in your car.
Plus, the Magnaflow doens't require the Bullet mod after two weeks of use.
But, you do get drone and rasp free of charge with the loudmouth... so that makes it a better deal.

They are both good. I have the Loudmouth and love it. If you want the loudest, it is probably your choice. It drones and rasps, I must be deaf or don't know what to listen for as far as rasp. It doesn't bother me. It sounds mean. If I had wanted a quiet car I would have bought a Monte Carlo.

"When you speak of sacrificing some hp, are we talking 3-5hp, or like 10?"
Magnaflow: + 1-2 hp below 3000 rpms
LM: + 1-2 hp above 4500 rpms
I'm just guessing. I'd bet you'd see NO difference in 1/4 mile ET or MPH.
I read a post on LS1.com about a guy with a high HP LS1 car, like 400 hp or something, running a cutout on the dyno and then closing it and running through his Hooker Catback. He didn't lose ANYTHING. I think we'd all agree a Magna Flow will flow as well as a Hooker (chambered vs straight through design). My 2 cents.

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
I must be deaf too, cause the loudmouth isnt even close to being annoying in the car. I love the sound, and for how loud it is outside the car, it is not bad inside at all. Only way i would go with a magnaflow was if i'd be running LT's in the future

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
Loudmouth all the way.
Not to start anything, but I have not seen the inside of a magnaflow muffler... is it really straight through??? I still do not see how any catback can flow anybetter than the Loudmouth. I do not think that there is any better catback sold retail that will flow any better or produce any more HP than the Loudmouth... it is 100% straight pipe.
Loudmouth will also drop some weight wouldn't it? Since it has no muffler.

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
I've had my Loudmouth for about 4 months and love it. No 2 week Dynomouth for me, it's great just the way it is. Rasp, I have ABSOLUTELY No idea what people are talking about when they say that because I don't hear anything like that, just loud rumble! As far as drone, yes there is some drone, and no it's not this 2200 rpm b.s., it's at different places according to how the motor is being loaded and such. Interior resonance is there but is not bad at all IMO, it's alot quieter than some other exhaust setups on other cars (not necessarily F-body) I've been in. After a while you get so used to the sound that you think it really isn't that loud. Well, I was pleasantly surprised when I asked my GF to drive my car while I stood outside and listened- and was reminded just how LOUD it REALLY is to everyone else in this world but the one driving it every day, ME!

I had my local Rapid Brake & Muffler special-order the muffler. They matched the Husker internet price and installed it for $40. Did a great job.
The stock TA pipes are plenty big enough. You will get the sound and performance of an expensive cat-back system for a fraction of the cost!

Re: Loudmouth vs. Magnaflow
I have the loudmouth which by itself and with the stock manifolds and cats droned(A4 car) but with the G2 y- pipe the drone has really gone away. I would have got the gmmg but they didn't take credit cards and i didn't feel like dealing with check, money order, etc. stuff.

MAGNAFLOW Wide Open Performance
SINGLE/DUAL OUTLETS PART#
2.50"/2.25" Dual 14266
3.00"/2.50" Dual 14267
For a ws6 we would need the 14267? right ??
