HELP! Header install gone bad?
HELP! Header install gone bad? To make a long story short, the number 7 headerbolt did not come out as planned. The threads may have got a little tweaked. Anyways, the bolt will go in one turn then it gets real hard. I think I just need to use a tap to clean them up. What size to I get from Sears?

Re: HELP! Header install gone bad? Had this same thing happen to me. Here is what I did. Take a bench grinder and grind the bolt alittle bit short 1/8 at a time. Then it should tighten up and fix the threads AMAZING!!! It really did work for me, it went in flush smooth against the header flange and it happend to me w/ 2 of the bolts.

Happened to me as well, I chalked it up to gm tolerences, I cleaned the header bolts with a wire brush on my dremel and just kept turning them into the heads after this. It worked and I have removed them since and put them back in so they are not stripped, I'm not recommending this but it worked for me, Also I tried using one of the header bolts that went in real easy and put it in the spot of the hard ones and it went in hard as well so it has to be something with the heads in my case which are stock for now.

Bring a bolt and match it up at sears.
The header bolt holes usually have anti-sieze residue in them... They need to be cleaned out.
