Difference between dash gauge clusters 98, 99, and 00-02
I know there are 3 different ones available, 98, 99, and 00-02. They are not interchangeable.
Does anyone know the difference between these 3?
If anyone has wiring pinouts that would be great as well.
Also, I know 00-02 models seem to have slow tachs and funky coolant readings.. seems to be a very common problem on all f-bodies. Do the 98 and 99 clusters share this same problem?
Thanks.
The only difference I've found in layouts is that 98 and I believe 99 as well have the small icons representing the guages above and in the corner relative to the guage. The 00+ have it centered below.
What other differences are there?
How about tach update speed? My 97 V6 tach is DAMN responsive where as most 00+ V6 tachs are lagged.
What are the other differences?
Thanks for the reply Chris.
I don't know the exact differences, but maybe I can add one or two things . The temp was good on 98's, everything above is set to read the same value for a wide range (dummy gauge). The tach in my 2002 was fine (not slow at all) until I changed the gears from 3.42's to 4.10's in which now the update speed is incredibly slow in 1st gear (a little slow in 2nd, after that ok). I was hitting the rev limiter at points when the tach was only reading 5,000 rpms!!

What are the differences between the digital 97 LT1 cluster and the 98 LS1 cluster?
Maybe I'll just use a 97 cluster for my ls1 engine swap for ease.
