Default Hoods

I have a question about car hoods for my 2002 Z28. Is there any hood that will up my horsepower and look good. Thanx

"Ram Air" hoods for our late model cars, be it Firebird or Camaro, aren't much more than a gimic. The WS6 hood aren't quite as bad, but the SS hood is a joke They look great, but as far as its "ram air" feature, it just that. A feature! These hoods are not sealed, therefore, cannot create the vaccum needed to justify it as true ram air. Ram Air hoods, for many years, have been nothing more than show. I would get a hood you like the look of, and invest in the Fast Toys Ram Air kit (FTRA). Thats what I did.

hmm.. remove the baffles from a GM WS6 hood and the air has a direct path into intake... I call that "true" Ram Air.

The SLP Ultra Hood for the Camaro's provides nearly the same setup.

Thats why I said the WS6 hoods weren't quite as bad. But simply removing the baffle does not quite make it "true" ram air. I never said they could not be fabed/made into a "true" working ram air hood.

Does anyone make a Ultra Z style hood with a 3-4" tall scoop? I'd like for the scoop to slope back even with the back of the hood. If anyone even has some leads of someone who could build one please reply.

I dont think anyone makes a hood like that, but you could possibly talk to VFN about making your own like that. They're one of our sponsers, the same people who have the 4" cowled WS6 RA and 4" cowled SS hood for sale. Check in the Apperance and Detailing section and you can find some pics, or go to VFNs site...i'll warn ya tho, the hoods are HUGE!!! Send VFN an email tho about the Ultra Z hood w/ a possible rake to it, and see what they say. May cost a pretty penny, but it pays to be unique

I want the inlet scoops in front to be 3-4" tall without a raised cowl. I'll check with VFN and see what they say. At least a hood like this will be functional.
